ALSO, IF YOU HAVE ANY EXISTING LIVE OR STUDIO TRACKS THAT YOU WANT TO BRING TO LIFE WITH A GREAT MIX, CHECK OUT MY SERVICES PAGE AND CONTACT ME AT FORBESOUND@COX.NET If you're an artist who can do a great live show, why not take advantage of it? A good live album will get your fans much more emotionally involved in your music than the typical collection of manufactured studio tracks. The energy from a live audience can inspire a level of performance that may never happen in the studio. And the performance is what it's all about. I specialize in recording live shows with a custom portable rig (pictured below and in various configurations throughout this site). This EXCELLENT YET AFFORDABLE remote recording service is the result of my 20+ years of professional live sound, recording and performing. And it's not just some random recording gear that was thrown together. The system was designed and assembled with a lot of thought, research, and a bit of trial and error. It is also configurable for different types of projects. The main consideration was absolute maximum sound quality per dollar spent. I think I have done pretty well in this regard, and that is why I can give you such a high level of quality for such a reasonable cost. Sometimes, if it suits the artist, I will bring the Avalon VT737sp that violates my maximum bang for the buck rule (more buck than bang--especially after buying new tubes), but it's a bit heavy to install in the rack and lug around. I didn't leave out some often-overlooked important details. I use a 24 channel transformer-isolated mic splitter that I wired with top quality Mogami cable—so there will be NO adverse interaction with the sound reinforcement system (such as hum, noise, and varying input impedances which can alter levels and affect audio quality). Due to the relatively high cost, this is an item that is often omitted by less-professional mobile recording services. The entire analog signal chain is conveyed through top-of-the-line Mogami snakes and Mogami studio quad mic cables only. The location recordings are made on a rock-solid 24 track dedicated HD recorder (fed from 24 class A microphone preamps with limiting and compression capability and digital outputs), then moved to Pro Tools for editing, mixing, & mastering. The result will be an energized CD and high-quality mp3 or other format files that will make your fans feel like they are still at your concert. And the quality? Even gear snobs could easily be fooled into thinking that you hired a $6,000 per day big name remote truck, especially if Forbesound does your mix. Most recent incarnation of the remote

Of course, if you are going to release a commercial CD from the recording, you will probably want to spend some extra time to really tweak the mix , which can involve considerable extra time and some reasonable extra expense. Email, text or call with the details and location of your show for an exact price. As a general rule, I will not accept a recording gig at a performance which involves multiple bands, with limited time between performances for set-up and tear-down (unless all the bands want to record, or if you are first up, with at least an hour available before the performance for set-up. If you are the headlining group in a larger venue,--and can set up, sound-check, and leave everything set-up-- then an opening act or two should not be a problem. Check with the venue to make sure they allow outside recording and don't charge exorbitant fees for the privilege. (Any fees that might be charged by a venue are not included in the price.) If you need just the recording only and have the capability and talent to do your own mix, the cost of recording just a single local set can be as low as $300. This works out great for aspiring musician/engineers on a tight budget who want to take a shot at doing their own mix. And it also works great for pro studios and producers who want someone to do a great job of capturing live tracks in the field. Whether I just record, or mix, or both, you will get a level of quality that far exceeds the cost.
